Hazel the Kids 1k before the start of the Tufts 10k this monday in Boston. She was very focused and really excited. She lined up right in the front with all of the big kids. Just after Joan Benoit (yes, THE Joan Benoit) told the kids to be nice to each other, some girl pushed her and pinched her. She was so upset she ran off the course and began sobbing in front of a CLOWN. This all happened in the split second that it took for me to walk down the line of parents to get a better view! Imagine my surprise (read: panic) when I looked back and didn't see Hazel!
Luckily, I ran back and found her right away. She hopped into the race and ran the entire thing! I am so proud of her.
She was very focused and kept biting her lip while she was running. It was so cute.
Afterwards, Grampie Bob took her to get her face painted and get ready to cheer me on in my race!
