We got a package from Daddy today! He sent us a beautiful gold tea set with little birds all over it! Hazel loves it because it's just her size. Plus, Lil' Haze really needed a chalice for her sizzirp.

Swamp Romp
The smell may be permanently burned into my nostrils. Think five miles of waist-deep stinky gooey smelly funky squishy nasty mud. Then think face-plants, low-crawling and even a swig or two. Oh yeah, I brushed my teeth like a hundred times. It took gallons of water, a whole bottle of soap, gobs of shampoo and about five million q-tips to get back that squeaky clean gleam. Despite all that, the Swamp Romp was a blast! We had a team of six tough it out through the five mile course with obstacles obstacles and more obstacles. We started and finished together, arms linked, and had a great time getting down and dirty.

Out and About

On Wednesday we celebrated Toots' birthday at the Pan Pacific Soccer Tournament. We really didn't go for the soccer . . .

. . . we went for the Beckham! Unfortunately the Galaxy lost :(

Here's Hazel pointing out where her Daddy is on the globe.

And some whales that gave us a little show at Mokuleia today.

Mirror, Mirror on the Wall . . .
She's already 5 months old and I can't believe it. She is a rolling machine and is even sitting up on her own. She's got two little bumps on her gums that are going to show up as teeth soon. She is reaching for and grabbing everything within reach. She's even getting destructive--she threw a soy sauce bottle to the floor today and laughed about it! My baby is getting so BIG!

Grrrrrrrrreat Aloha Run!
The Great Aloha Run went really well this morning! It was really nice to test my legs again! I ended up winning First place for Military Females! I got a really cool koa bowl trophy and a G-- yeah that's right, I won a thousand bucks! I didn't even know money was involved! And to think I whined about the $40 entry fee . . .
My Dad ran too, and he totally kicked butt! I know there was no one else out there with as many knee operations running as fast as he did! I am so proud of Strong Papi!
Afterwards, we celebrated by taking advantage of the West swell down in Waianae. The waves were good, but not as good as on Friday. Hazel enjoyed herself a little too much. Here she is after attempting to make-out with the sand:
Don't worry we managed to get all of the sand out of her eyes and mouth. The nose is a different story . . .

Happy Hearts Day!
Happy Valentines Day!
Delilah gets me every time! When I am driving home from my parents house at night NPR is usually off the air, forcing me to peruse the stations, inevitably leading me to "Delilah." She plays the cheesiest songs and the dedications are atrocious, but she always manages to reel me in.
Tonight she was laying it on thick, due to Valentines Day, and I lapped it up. I think it was Boyz to Men, maybe even Whitney Houston, possibly Bryan Adams, something in the midst of these cliched lyrics struck a chord inside me and I lost it.
A tear trickled down my cheek as I thought about cruising down H1 with Chris belting out Britney Spears and techno music in an attempt to force little Hazel out of my belly. They started pouring as I was whisked back to a strong, warm embrace and Jack Johnson cooing "Better Together." I filled buckets as I recalled him singing "Boston You're my Home" and dancing around the house with the little monkey.
Hazel joined in and we were both bawling as we turned onto our dark lonely street. We pulled into the driveway and, as I frantically unstrapped her from her car seat, my angel sent a ray of sunshine right into my heart with a huge smile. Just like her Daddy, little Hazel knows how to make everything better.
We hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day! Hazel and I love you and miss you!

Hazel's Got the Music
On Saturday night, I was driving home after a fabulous evening with the wonderful Pat and Gina, and this song came on the radio. Although Hazel is sound asleep in the back, I turn it up and lean in close. I can't believe what I am hearing. I listen for a few rounds of the chorus, until I am positive of the lyrics. Then I call my mom and tell her to tune in. She does and is blown away too. Despite the time difference, I call Brooke and I am freaking out by this point. "Brooke, I just heard this song," I am practically shouting, "and the lyrics are 'Hazel's got the music!' it goes like this . . ." I proceed to sing it to her until she butts in laughing and completely bursting my bubble by informing me that it's a Rhianna song and the lyrics are "Please Don't Stop the Music." I was crushed!
I still think she's saying "Hazel's Got the Music."

Hot Mamas
After months of saying we'd get together and never actually doing it, Jana, Irene, and I + kids all finally had dinner! The restaurant didn't work out, so we got thai take-out and had a crazy, fun feast at our house. I got a quick lesson in baby-proofing with Styles and Grant running amuck, but Sklyer, the wonderful little helper, kept them in line, cleaned up, and even read them books. She's going to be just like her Mommy.
Hazel loved playing with all of the kids-- I think she is jealous of their mobility. She was so worn out that managed to fall asleep amid the chaos and didn't make it in the group picture. But here she is in her Bumbo with her favorite toy!

Rollin Rollin Rollin
Hazel rolled over today!!! She just flipped right over from her tummy to her back like she had been doing it for years. I started freaking out and cheered for her and she just gave me a look like "it was no big deal, Mom." I am so proud of my little girl!

Carbon Copy
Daddy sent us a picture! We are so happy to finally get to see him again!
I didn't realize I gave birth to Chris' clone, just look at their pictures!
We put his picture into Hazel's "Daddy Doll" and she couldn't get enough--she stared at him all day long!
We miss him so much. We just want him to stay safe and come home to us soon!

Surfs Up!

Since she's feeling better, H decided to hit Pipeline and carve it up today. She made her Daddy proud shooting the curl and getting tubed.
