daddy's going to be mad . . .

. . . but I had to post these nudie pics anyway!

We took Hazel out to the windward side on Thursday.  The sand there is soooo fine and when it gets wet it's almost the same consistency as baby food.  Needless to say, H had a four-course sand dinner that evening.  And yes, Mommy had about four fun beach diapers.

First Tooth!

Hazel got her first tooth yesterday!  She was chomping down on my finger as usual when all of a sudden it started to hurt!  She won't let me get a good look at it, but there is definitely a razor sharp little tooth coming through.  I can't believe how fast she's growing up!

Better Together

As Jack gently crooned the lyrics to our favorite song, "Better Together," at the Kokua festival on Saturday, it was quite apparent that I was missing a huge part of my heart.  Last year we danced bare foot in the grass to the same song, and the year prior in all our finery at our wedding, and a million times before that in various cars and living rooms.

We danced so much because the song really rings true for us.  Though we've been separated much of the time, we never miss a beat when we come together again.

Here is a smattering of photos of the better times:

Hbot's first "Christmas" on 3 DEC 07
Koblenz 2003
Army Navy 2004
500th Night 2004
Munich 2003
Raleigh 2006
Boston 2004
Paris 2003 (we look a little beat here)
Our Second Wedding  2006
Our First Wedding 2005
Ring Weekend 2004
Engagement 2005
Surftime 2006
Raleigh 2006

We truly are better together.  Not long until we are better again.  I love you, Chris.

the talking head

On Saturday we had our first VTC with Daddy!  It was so wonderful to actually see him and hear his voice.  I always forget how cute he is when we're apart!

Chris was totally blown away by his little girl.  She immediately smiled and started flapping around for him.  Then she decided to shred a magazine and roll around on the floor.  She made several valiant attempts to crawl and showed off her revving.

Hazel was so good and was very interested in the screen.  I just hope she doesn't think of her father as a 5x larger than life screen with surround sound voice!

Happy Birthday!!!

Happy Belated Birthday to Grandma Kathy and Uncle Cory!
We miss you!

Chris is wonderful! He top-secretly sent the MacBook Air and surprised me with it on my birthday!  I am so excited!  It's awesome!
