And she did. She woke up at the crack of dawn and trekked down to the North Shore for the chance to see the Eddie Aikau Big Wave Competition. They say the "bay calls the day," which is why the Eddie hasn't happened in three years. Unfortunately the bay did not chose today. The waves were enormous (25-35 feet), however the windy conditions destroyed any hopes of the competition today.
There was one insane surfer out there all by himself. We saw him ride a few mountains, each of us cringing from our safe semi-dry spot on land. It was incredible.
I think Hbot had more fun playing with her feet in the car afterwards . . .
